How We Started
On Guard Security 24/7 (On Guard Consulting Pty Ltd) was founded on a simple observation: too many security companies treat clients as account numbers rather than people. Guards showed up late. Management was unreachable. Service was inconsistent. We knew there had to be a better way.
Our founder, a security industry professional with 5 years of specialized experience in background screening and vetting, saw firsthand how conventional security firms failed their clients. Large corporations prioritized growth over quality. Guards received minimal training. Clients had no direct access to leadership when problems arose.
So in 2016, we launched On Guard Security 24/7 with a different philosophy:
owner-managed excellence.
We started small—just a handful of guards serving local businesses and residential properties in Pretoria. But our hands-on approach, rigorous vetting, and genuine commitment to client safety quickly set us apart. When clients called with concerns, they spoke directly with the owner. When guards needed support, management was on-site, not in a distant corporate office.
Word spread. We grew from protecting small shops to securing major retail centers, corporate offices, government facilities, and large residential estates. Today, we operate from three strategic offices across Gauteng and Mpumalanga, serving over 500 clients with the same personalized service that defined our first day in business.

Our founder holds the highest levels of PSIRA security officer accreditation—Grades A, B, and C—demonstrating expertise across all facets of private security operations from basic guarding to advanced security management.
With specialized training in background screening and personnel vetting, he personally oversees the selection and evaluation of every security officer in our company. This ensures that only the most qualified, trustworthy individuals protect our clients.
But credentials are just the foundation. What truly sets our leadership apart is accessibility and accountability. Every client has direct access to our director's mobile number. When you have a concern, you speak with the person ultimately responsible for your security—not a customer service representative reading from a script.
This hands-on leadership approach extends to daily operations. Our management team conducts regular site visits, personally trains security officers, and maintains direct relationships with clients. We believe security is too important to delegate to layers of bureaucracy.
